God's Word

Mark 5:32-34a

Jesus looked around to see who had done it. The woman approached in fear and trembling. She fell down before Jesus and told him the whole truth. He said to her,

“Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

God's Word Today

The woman was afraid to tell Jesus the truth. She was probably afraid that He would be mad at her. But she told the truth and instead of getting mad, Jesus blessed her. Have you ever been afraid to tell the truth about something you did? You can always tell the truth to someone you trust. You can always trust Jesus.

To Do Today

Today, think about whom you trust. Is it your parents? Maybe it is your grandparents. Remember you can always tell them the truth.

God's Word

Matthew 8:19

A scribe approached and said to Jesus, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."

God's Word Today

Jesus wants all of us to be like the scribe and tell Him that we will follow him wherever He wants us to go. To follow Jesus today means to obey His commandments and to love everyone.

To Do Today

Today, write a letter to Jesus and tell Him that you want to follow Him. If you don't think you can, ask Him to teach you how. He will send the Holy Spirit to teach you.

God's Word

Matthew 8:26

“Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?”

God's Word Today

Have you ever been afraid or terrified? Jesus’ disciples were afraid of the storm. But Jesus asked why. Didn’t they have faith that He would protect them? When you are afraid, do you call on Jesus?

To Do Today

Today, think about something that you are afraid of. Tell Jesus about it. Sing the song Jesus Loves Me.

God's Word

Matthew 8:28b-29

Two demoniacs who were coming from the tombs met Jesus. They were so savage that no one could travel by that road. They cried out, "What have you to do with us, son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the appointed time?"

God's Word Today

The two demoniacs were mean bullies. But they knew who Jesus was and they were afraid of Him. And rightfully so. Jesus turned them into pigs. Even bullies and bad people can know Jesus. The important thing to know is if they follow Him or just know who He is.

To Do Today

Today, tell Jesus you don't want to be like the bullies. You want to follow Him.

God's Word

Matthew 9:2b and 6b-8a

People brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic,

"Rise, pickup your stretcher, and go home."

He rose and went home. When the crowds saw this they were struck with awe and glorified God.

God's Word Today

Jesus performed a miracle and healed the man who couldn't walk. He did this because the people had faith in Him. They believed He could do it. Do you have that kind of faith in Jesus?

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of the paralytic man walking after Jesus healed him.

God's Word

Matthew 9:12

“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.”

God's Word Today

Jesus came to save sinners. He came because humankind needed a physician, a healer. If you were perfect, you wouldn’t need Jesus. No one is perfect. We all need Jesus. Tomorrow is the birthday of the United States of America. The U.S. is a wonderful country, but it is not perfect. Jesus came to save this country too.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the things you love about your country and thank God for them.

Psalm 135:3

Praise the Lord; the Lord is good! Sing to God’s names; it is gracious.

God loves it when we praise Him, the Holy Spirit, or His Son Jesus. The Lord is so good to you, it is right for you to sing praises to Him.

To Do Today

Today, sing a song of praise to God the Father, the Holy Spirit and to Jesus. If you don’t know a song, make one up.

God's Word

2 Corinthians 12:10b

For when I am weak, then I am strong.

God's Word Today

When you are at your weakest in this world, when there is no one to help you, when you can’t find any answers, when you are really helpless, that is when you are the strongest because you turn to Jesus. Sometimes you don’t turn to Jesus when you think you can do it yourself. However, turning problems or challenges over to the Lord gives you strength to overcome.

To Do Today

Today, write down a problem you are worried about and tuck it into your Bible. Give it to Jesus to take care of.

God's Word

Matthew 9:21-22a

She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.” Jesus turned around and saw her, and said,

“Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.”

God's Word Today

This sick lady had so much faith in Jesus that all she thought she had to do to be healed was touch His cloak. And it worked. Jesus saw her faith and healed her. Even today, thousands of people flock to shrines where Jesus has been seen and they are healed. Faith is very powerful.

To Do Today

Today, tell Jesus how much faith you have in Him.

God's Word

Matthew 9:36

At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.

God's Word Today

Jesus is your shepherd. He takes care of you as if you were one of His special sheep. He loves you so much. Do you have friends who don’t know Jesus? They are like the people in the verse. They need to know Jesus is there to take care of them.

To Do Today

Today, tell a neighbor or friend about Jesus.

God's Word

Matthew 10:7

"Make this proclamation: 'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.'"

God's Word Today

Jesus wants you to tell people about Him. He wants you to tell them that "The Kingdom of heaven is at hand." That means you can know some of the joys of heaven if you know Jesus. You can love, joy, peace and kindness.

God's Word Today

God has given you gifts. You have talents and skills unique to you. God gave them to you freely. You are to use those gifts freely. He gave them to you so you could bless others.

God's Word

Matthew 10:19b-20

“Do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say. For it will not be you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

God's Word Today

Jesus wants you to tell people about Him. He told His disciples not to worry about what to say. The Holy Spirit would help them speak. The same applies to you. Whenever you tell anyone about Jesus, close your eyes and ask the Holy Spirit to help you. He will.

To Do Today

Today, close your eyes and ask the Holy Spirit to help you tell others about Jesus. Thank Him and tell Him you love Him.

God's Word

Matthew 10:26b

“Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.”

God's Word Today

Have you ever had a secret? Were you able to keep it a secret for long? Jesus says that all secrets will be known. He knows everything.

To Do Today

Today, thank Jesus for taking care of your secrets.

God's Word

Ephesians 1:11-12a

In Him we were also chosen, destined in accord with the purpose of the One who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will so that we might exist for the praise of his glory.

God's Word Today

God chose you to be His child. The reason you exist and were chosen is so you could praise God. That is the main reason you exist—to love God.

To Do Today

Today, tell God how much you love Him.

God's Word

Matthew 10:38

“And whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.”

God's Word Today

Whenever you have a problem or a challenge, that is your cross in life to bear. Jesus wants you to face your problems and challenges and give them to Him. If you give Jesus your problems, you will be free to follow Him.

To Do Today

Today, close your eyes and think of any problems or challenges you have. Picture yourself handing those problems and challenges to Jesus.

God's Word

Matthew 11:20

Jesus began to reproach the towns where most of his mighty deeds had been done, since they had not repented.

God's Word Today

Jesus reproached the towns. That means He scolded them. He was upset with them because He had taught them how to live and they did not repent. Repent means to change. They did not stop doing bad things. They did not love one another. So He is upset with them. Have you repented? Do you try to stop doing bad things? Do you love others? If not, Jesus will be upset with you too. If you do, then He is smiling.

To Do Today

Today, list all the ways you need to repent and make a plan to start doing so.

God's Word

Matthew 11:25b

“Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.”

God's Word Today

Many wise and educated people try to know God. But knowing God doesn’t take a lot of education or study. Knowing God is simple. It means having trust and faith just like you trust your parents to take care of you. It means knowing God loves you no matter what happens.

To Do Today

Today, write a list of all the things you know about God.

God's Word

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”

God's Word Today

This is one of the most popular sayings of Jesus. If you are tired or have problems, He says come to ME. If you are tired or if you have a problem, say the name Jesus over and over.

To Do Today

Today, say the name Jesus seven times. How does saying His name make you feel?

Friday

God's Word

Matthew 12:7a

“I desire mercy not sacrifice.”

God's Word Today

Many people make sacrifices to the Lord. They do acts of kindness or they give food and clothing to the poor or they give money to the church. These are pleasing to Jesus, but He likes mercy and forgiveness to others even more.

To Do Today

Today, discuss with your family ways you can be merciful.

God's Word

Matthew 12:18b

“I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.”

God's Word Today

Hundreds of years before Jesus came the prophets told the people that Jesus would come to proclaim justice. Thousands of years after Jesus, we still count on these words. Jesus will proclaim justice for you through the Holy Spirit.

To Do Today

Today, pray to the Holy Spirit and to Jesus to bring justice and peace into your life.

God's Word

Mark 6:31a

Jesus said to them,

“Come to the desert and rest awhile.”

God's Word Today

In Genesis, you read that after God created the earth, He rested on the seventh day. Jesus is telling His disciples to take some time to rest. If God and Jesus need time to rest, then so do you.

To Do Today

Today, take some time to rest in a quiet place. Spend that time thinking about Jesus.

God's Word

Matthew 12:42b

"The queen from the south came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here."

God's Word Today

The Queen of Sheba had heard about how wise Solomon was. She came hundreds of miles to learn from him. Jesus is explaining that His wisdom ad the wisdom of the Holy Spirit is much better than Solomon's wisdom. So He wants you to search for Him like the Queen of Sheba searched for Solomon.

To Do Today

Today, ask your family to help you find where Sheba is on a map. Draw a map of the route the queen took.

God's Word

Matthew 12:50

"Whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother."

God's Word Today

Jesus is the Son of God. If you believe this, then you become a son or daughter of God also. If you believe in Jesus then you are His brother or sister.

To Do Today

Today, tell someone that Jesus is the Son of God.

God's Word

Matthew 13:1-2

On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore.

God's Word Today

Jesus is very popular at this time. Everyone wants to touch Him so they can be healed. But too many people pushing to speak to Him, make it very dangerous. So He got in a boat so He could talk to them. They couldn't push or shove Him when He was in the boat.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of Jesus talking to the people on the shore. Draw Him standing in the boat.

God's Word

Matthew 13:16

Jesus said:

"But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear."

God's Word Today

When you listen to Jesus you are blessed. How do you listen to Him? You can listen to His word in the Bible, your Sunday school teacher speaks Jesus word, your parents talk about Jesus. There are many ways to listen to Him speak. You will always be blessed when you hear Him.

To Do Today

Today, find a way to listen to Jesus. Ask someone to read the Bible to you. Read the Bible yourself.

God's Word

Matthew 13:23

Jesus said,

"But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold."

God's Word Today

Jesus talked in parables. Parables are stories that tell about something that happens but also have a message in them. The message in this parable is to listen to Jesus with an open mind and heart. Then you live like He wants you to.

To Do Today

Today, sing a song to Jesus.

Saturday

God's Word

Matthew 13:29-30

Jesus replied,

"No, if you pull up the weeds you might uproot the wheat along with them. Let them grow together until harvest; then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters, "First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning; but gather the wheat into my barn.""

God's Word Today

This parable helps explain why there are bad people. God does not want to pull out the weeds or the bad people because He doesn't want to hurt the good plants or good people. But in the end, the weeds and bad people will be gathered and burned. The good plants and good people will be gathered and placed in the barn with Jesus.

To Do Today

Today, talk about this parable with your family.

God's Word

Ephesians 4:1b

I urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.

God's Word Today

You have received a call, just like Paul. You are called to be a child of God. When you accept Jesus, you have answered that call. Now how does He want you to live? Jesus wants you to try and be like Him. Are you doing your best to be like Jesus?

To Do Today

Today, write down one thing you’ve done this week that was something Jesus would do.

Monday

God's Word

Matthew 13:31-32

Jesus proposed a parable to the crowds.

"The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becomes a large bush, and the birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches."

God's Word Today

Have you ever seen a mustard seed? It is very tiny, but the bush grows into the size of a tree. Jesus says faith can grow like that. It can grow from a tiny bit to big, strong faith.

To Do Today

Today, see if you can find a mustard seed. Find pictures of a mustard plant. You can look in the library, a book or on the Internet.

God's Word

Matthew 13:41-42

"The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his Kingdom all who cause others to sin and all evildoers. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."

God's Word Today

Jesus is the Son of Man. He will order His angels to gather all the evil people and throw them into the lake of fire. The reason they will gnash their teeth and grind their teeth will be because they are sorry now that they were evil, but it is too late. If you do anything mean or evil, tell Jesus you are sorry and He will forgive you. You will not be thrown in the lake of fire if you truly are sorry and you repent and change your ways.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the things you did that were mean. Ask Jesus to forgive you.
