"Stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour."

God's Word Today

Again Jesus is warning you to be ready. You do not know when He is coming. So always be careful. Try and act like Him always.

God's Word

Matthew 25:21

"Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy."

God's Word Today

All week Jesus has warned you to not be a hypocrit, but to act like Him. Today, He rewards you for acting like Him, even in small ways. He doesn't care if you do big things. The small things are just as important.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of small things to do that would please Jesus.

God's Word

Jeremiah 20:8b

The word of the Lord has brought me derision and reproach all the day.

God's Word Today

Jeremiah was a prophet who lived long before Jesus was born. He loved God very much and he wanted to tell the people about God. He wanted them to follow God's laws. He wanted them to love God with all of their heart like he did. But the people laughed at him. They made fun of him. Sometimes they even tried to hurt him. That happens today also. Many people are afraid to follow God and they make fun of those who do. Has anyone ever made fun of you because you love Jesus? That will happen. Do not be afraid. Stand firm like Jeremiah did and pray for those people.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of people who have hurt you in some way and pray for each one of them.

God's Word

Luke 4:16

Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read.

God's Word Today

When Jesus was a boy, He went to syagogue on the sabbath. That is like you going to church on Sunday. He went to learn God's word. You go to learn God's word. When you go to church, you are acting like Jesus.

To Do Today

Today, read from your Bible.

God's Word

Luke 4:31-32

Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee. He taught them on the sabbath, and they were astonished at his teaching because he spoke with authority.

God's Word Today

Do you know where Capernaum is? It took a long time for Jesus to travel because they traveled by foot. But He went to teach people about God.

To Do Today

Today, look on a map and find Galilee and the town of Capernaum. On the Internet, you will find pictures of the town.

God's Word

Luke 4:43-44

But he said to them,

"To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent."

And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

God's Word Today

Jesus was sent to earth to teach the good news about salvation. He wanted everyone to know about the Kingdom of God. You can be like Jesus and tell people about the Kingdom of God.

To Do Today

Today, tell someone about Jesus.

God's Word

Luke 5:10b-11

Jesus said to Simon,

"Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men."

When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.

God's Word Today

When Jesus called the disciples, they left everything they knew to follow Him. They loved Him that much.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of Jesus and His disciples.

Friday
September 8, 2017

God's Word

Luke 5:33a

The scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, "The disciples of John the Baptist fast often and offer prayers."

God's Word Today

In Jesus time people often fasted when they prayed. To fast means to do without something, usually food. This is because it makes you closer to God. Have you ever fasted before?

To Do Today

Today, talk to your family about fasting. Think of a way to fast when you have a very important prayer.

God's Word

Luke 6:5

And Jesus said to them,

"The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath."

God's Word Today

What does it mean to be lord of the sabbath? It means that Jesus is the main person. Jesus is the one you should worship and think about on Sunday. Jesus wants you to think about Him all of the time, but especially on Sunday, because that is His special day of worship.

To Do Today

Today, help your family prepare a special meal. Dedicate this meal to Jesus.

Sunday
September 10, 2017

God's Word

Matthew 18:20

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

God's Word Today

Jesus says that where two or three or more are together and believe in Him, then He is there with those people. When you are at church, you are gathered in Jesus name. Jesus is in church with you. When you and your family gather together and pray, Jesus is there with you. When you and two or more friends gather together and pray to Jesus, He is there with you.

To Do Today

Today, when your and your family sit down for dinner, set a place for Jesus and talk to Him. He is there with you.

Monday

God's Word

Luke 6:6

On a certain sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and taught.

God's Word Today

The synagogue is like a church. When Jesus was alive, men went into the synagogue to learn about God. Jesus loved to teach people about God. He still does. You can learn about Jesus in church, at home and at school. Jesus is everywhere and He teaches us every day.

To Do Today

Today, find a place to sit and learn about Jesus.

Tuesday
September 12, 2017

God's Word

Luke 6:12

Jesus departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.

God's Word Today

Jesus often went to be by himself and pray. He worked very hard. His work was difficult. He needed to take time to be by himself and pray. Do you work hard? You need to take time to be alone and pray, just like Jesus did. It will help you be strong and healthy.

To Do Today

Today, find a special place where you can be alone to pray.

God's Word

Luke 6:22-23

"Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way."

God's Word Today

Has anyone ever made fun of you or teased you because you love Jesus? Jesus is telling you that this is a good thing. If someone teases you or hates you because you love Jesus, then that means you really love Him. And you will be rewarded in heaven. Do not be sad. Be happy and think about your reward. All of the angels will sing and dance.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of heaven with the angels singing and dancing.

God's Word

Luke 6:27-28

Jesus said to his disciples,

"To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."

God's Word Today

Yesterday you learned that you are blessed if people hate you because you love Jesus. Today Jesus tells you to love your enemies and pray for them. Jesus wants them to turn from their evil ways and love Him. Your prayers help Jesus.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the people you don't like. Pray for them.

Friday

God's Word

Luke 6:40

Jesus said,

"No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher."

God's Word Today

Jesus is telling His disciples that they will never be superior to Him, their teacher. But if they train and study Jesus, they will be like Him. Jesus wants you to learn all you can about Him so that you will be like Him also. If you are like Him, you will be able to love your enemies and pray at all times.

To Do Today

Today, think about something you like about Jesus. Try and act like that today.

Saturday

God's Word

Luke 6:46

"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' but not do what I command?"

God's Word Today

It upsets Jesus when you tell Him you love Him, but then turn around and break one of His commandments. If you love Jesus, you need to try and follow all of His commandments. He especially wants you to love everyone. Can you do that? It is very difficult to live like Jesus, but it makes Him very happy when you try.

To Do Today

Today, show someone in your family or neighborhood that you love them. What can you do to show that?

Sunday

God's Word

Matthew 18:21-22

Peter approached Jesus and asked him, "Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive? As many as seven time?" Jesus answered,

"I say to you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."

God's Word Today

Jesus wants you to forgive others, not just once, but every time they need it. That is the way He forgives you. You will sin a lot more than seven times and He will forgive you if you ask. He wants you to be like Him and forgive every time someone needs forgiveness. It isn't always easy, but if you think about Jesus when you are doing it, you will be able to forgive.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the people you need to forgive. Ask Jesus to help you do so. When you feel you have, then cross their name off the list.

God's Word

Luke 7:2,7b,9-10

A centurian had a slave who was ill. He sent for Jesus and said, "Say the word and let my servant be healed." Jesus was amazed at him and, turning to the crowd following him, said,

"I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith."

When the messenger returned to the house, they found the slave in good health.

God's Word Today

The centurian was so sure that Jesus could heal his slave that he told Jesus not to come, but to just say the word and the slave would be healed. That is strong faith. Jesus loves it when you have strong faith in Him. He loves it when you believe in Him.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the prayers Jesus has answered for you. Tell Him thank you.

God's Word

Luke 7:13-15

When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her,

"Do not weep."

He stepped forward and touched the coffin; at this the bearers halted, and he said,

"Young man, I tell you, arise!"

The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.

God's Word Today

Because Jesus performed this miracle, people truly began to believe He was the Son of God. Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God?

To Do Today

Today, tell someone that Jesus is the Son of God.

Wednesday
September 20, 2017

God's Word

Luke 7:31-32a

Jesus said to the crowds:

"To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children who sit in the market place and call to one another."

God's Word Today

Jesus is unhappy with the men and women of His time because they taunt and tease each other instead of being helpful and caring. Do you like people who tease? Do you like people who make fun of others? Jesus did not like this. Jesus wants you to help others and to love them.

To Do Today

Today, plan to help someone.

Thursday
September 21, 2017

God's Word

Luke 7:49-50

The others at the table said to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" But he said to the woman,

"Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

God's Word Today

The disciples were amazed that Jesus forgave the woman who had sinned. Jesus says He will forgive anyone who believes in Him and has the faith to trust Him. Do you believe in Jesus? Do you trust Him?

To Do Today

Today, be like Jesus and forgive someone who has done something bad to you or someone who has made you mad or unhappy. Do you feel better?

Friday
September 22, 2017

God's Word

Luke 8:1

Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God.

God's Word Today

Jesus could talk about the Kingdom of God because He was from there. He knew His Father and He loved to tell people about Him. Do you like to talk about where you are from?

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of your neighborhood. Circle all the things you like about your neighborhood.

Saturday

God's Word

Luke 8:4

When a large crowd gathered, with people from one town after another journeying to Jesus, he spoke in a parable.

God's Word Today

Many people traveled from far away to hear Jesus speak. Jesus knew that they might not understand Him so he spoke in parables. Parables are stories meant to teach something. Can you think of parables about your life today?

To Do Today

Today, ask your parents to help you make up a parable about something in your life.

God's Word

Philippians 1:27a

Conduct yourselves in a way worthy of the gospel of Christ.

God's Word Today

Paul is telling the people of Philippia to act like Christians. He wants them to do what Jesus would do. If Paul were alive today he would tell you the same thing. He would want you to act like Jesus. That is what it means to conduct yourself according to the gospel of Christ. When you read the gospel of Christ in the Bible, you read about how Jesus acted. Jesus wants you to act like he did. What does that mean.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the ways you acted like Jesus this week. When did you do what Jesus would do?

God's Word

Luke 8:16

Jesus said to the crowd,

"No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light."

God's Word Today

Do you know the song "This Little Light of Mine"? In the song and in this verse, Jesus tells you that you are His light. Do not hide and keep your light from shining. What does that mean? It means that through you, when you show love and gentleness and patience, you are showing the world Jesus. That is why He wants you to love others, so they will see Him.

To Do Today

Today, sing the song "This Little Light of Mine".

Tuesday
September 26, 2017

God's Word

Luke 8:21

He said to them in reply,

"My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it."

God's Word Today

If you hear the word of God and act on it, then Jesus says you are His brother or sister. If you believe in Jesus, you are a child of God. That also makes you His brother or sister. Doesn't that make you happy?

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of you with Jesus. Are you playing, reading, singing, or dancing?

Wednesday

God's Word

Luke 9:1-2

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

God's Word Today

Who are the Twelve that Jesus summoned? They are the twelve disciples. He told them to go forth and tell everyone about Him. He gave them the power to heal the sick. Do you know that you are like a disciple? Jesus wants you to tell people about Him.

To Do Today

Today, tell someone about Jesus. If you know a sick person, pray for them.

God's Word

Luke 9:7a

Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed.

God's Word Today

A tetrarch is like a governor. He was in charge of Israel. He heard about all the miracles and he was perplexed. To be perflexed means to be confused. He didn't know Jesus, so he didn't understand that Jesus and His disciples could perform miracles. When people don't know Jesus, they don't understand miracles. They think they are magic or luck. But you know Jesus. You know He performs miracles.

To Do Today

Today, tell someone about a miracle you have seen. Tell them the miracle was because of faith in Jesus.

God's Word

Luke 9:22

Jesus said,

"The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised."

God's Word Today

Jesus knew that people like Herod who didn't understand who He was, would be afraid of Him and His powers. So they planned to kill him. But Jesus told His disciples that He would be raised on the third day. Do you think this made them feel better?

To Do Today

Today, find pictures of Jesus on the cross. Thank Him for suffering for you.

God's Word

Luke 9:43b-44

While they were amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples,

"Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men."

God's Word Today

Jesus warned His disciples that He was to suffer and be killed. But they saw all the miracles and didn't believe anything bad could happen to Jesus. But Jesus needed to die for us. He needed to sacrifice for our sins.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of Jesus and his twelve disciples.

God's Word

Ezekiel 18:26-27

When someone virtuous turns away from virtue to commit iniquity, and dies, it is because of the iniquity he committed that he must die. But if he turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is right and just, he shall preserve his life; since he has turned away from all the sins that he has committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

God's Word Today

Someone who is virtuous is someone who follows God's laws. Iniquity is sin. It means they do not follow God's laws. Ezekiel is talking about spiritual life and death, not the kind of death here on earth. Everyone dies here on earth. But those who ask forgiveness when they sin and they try to follow God's laws, they can be forgiven and will live forever. If a person sins all the time and does not believe in Jesus who has died so their sins are forgiven, they will not live forever.

To Do Today

Today, thank Jesus for dying for you so your sins are forgiven. Be sure and ask God to forgive your sins every day.

God's Word

Luke 9:47-48

Jesus took a child and placed it by his side and said to the disciples,

"Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me."

God's Word Today

The disciples were fighting over who was the greatest. Jesus wanted to show them that the greatest was the one who had the simple faith like a child. You do not need to be fancy or important to be great in the kingdom of God. All you need is t have faith and believe in Jesus.

To Do Today

Today, list all the people you know who have real faith in Jesus. Are they better than you? You are all great because you believe.

Tuesday
October 3, 2017

God's Word

Luke 9:51

When the days for Jesus to be be taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem.

God's Word Today

Jesus knew it was time to stop teaching and sacrifice His life for all of us including you. He could have turned away. But He was brave and suffered so that you might be saved. He loves you that much.

To Do Today

Today, talk to your family and discuss ways they have suffered or sacrificed because they love you. Have you sacrificed because you love them? Discuss this also. This will make your faith grow strong.

Wednesday
October 4, 2017

God's Word

Luke 9:57

As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding on their journey, someone said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go."

God's Word Today

Would you be brave enough to tell Jesus that you would follow Him? This man was willing to leave his family and follow Jesus. Today there are people who do leave their families and fo far away to be missionaries. A person has to be very brave and have a lot of faith to do this.

To Do Today

Today, ask your family about the missionaries from your church. Think of a way you can help them.

Thursday

God's Word

Luke 10:1-2

Jesus appointed seventy-two other disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. He said to them,

"The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest."

God's Word Today

Jesus knows that there are many people who long to hear the good news about Him. But there are few people who will sacrifice and leave their families to tell others about Jesus. Jesus asks you to pray for more people to go out and tell others about Him. Do you think you can be one of those people?

To Do Today

Today, talk to your family and plan ways you can tell others about Jesus while you are still at home.

Friday
October 6, 2017

God's Word

Luke 10:16

Jesus said,

"Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."

God's Word Today

Jesus knows that even if you go out and tell others about Him, not everyone will listen or care. They are not rejecting you. They are rejecting Jesus. If they reject Jesus, they will have great sorrow. Please pray for them. They might accept Him later.

To Do Today

Today, sing songs about Jesus. What song is your favorite? Sing that song with your family.

Saturday
October 7, 2017

God's Word

Luke 10:21a,23-24

At this very moment Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,

"I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth."

Turning to the disciples in private he said,

"Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it."

God's Word Today

The disciples are so excited because they have seen and performed many miracles in Jesus name. Jesus is very happy. He praises God, His Father. Jesus tells His disciples that they are blessed to see these things because many do not see. Have you seen miracles? You are blessed also.

To Do Today

Today, tell someone about one of the miracles that Jesus performed.

Sunday

God's Word

Philippians 4:8-9

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the god of peace will be with you.

God's Word Today

Paul is reminding you to always think about good things. If you do, you will have peace. If you think about problems, worries or fears, then you won't have peace. You are to give your problems, worries and fears to Jesus. If you trust Him to take care of them, then you will have peace. So whenever a problem, worry or fear comes to mind, chase it away with good thoughts so you will be at peace. This is true faith.

To Do Today

Today, write a list of all your problems, worries and fears. Next to each item, put a positive thought about it. Use the list that Paul gave you in Philippians.

God's Word

Luke 10:29b-37

A scholar asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbor?" Jeus replied,

"A man fell victim to robbers as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. They stripped and beat him and left him half dead. A priest happened to be going down that road, but when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. Likewise a Levite came to the place, and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them. Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn, and cared for him. Which of these three, in your opinion was neighbor to the robber's victim?"

He answered, "The one who treated him with mercy." Jesus said to him.

"Go and do likewise."

God's Word Today

The man looked pretty bad all beat up and in the road. The priest and Levite did not want to get involved. In Jesus time, the Samaritan's were not friends of the Jews. The Jews did not like them. But this Samaritan helped the man because he was filled with compassion. He loved his neighbor even though he may not have liked him. This is the kind of love Jesus wants you to have for your neighbor.

To Do Today

Today, think of ways you can help your neighbors. Ask a neighbor if you can help them.

Tuesday
October 10, 2017

God's Word

Luke 10:38-42

Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Marth, burdened with much serving, came tohim and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me." The Lord said to her in reply,

"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her."

God's Word Today

Jesus wants you to stay close to Him. He wants you to sit and listen to the word of God. He wants you to hear the Holy Spirit. In this story He is telling you that you cannot hear Him if you are too busy. You must take time to sit quiet like Mary did and listen.

To Do Today

Today, find a quiet place to sit and talk to Jesus. Listen to what you hear in your heart.

God's Word

Luke 11:1-4

Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples." He said to the,

"When you pray say: Father, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test."

God's Word Today

Jesus taught His disciples what is called "The Lord's Prayer". It is a guide for prayer. First, praise God, then ask what you want or need, ask Him to forgive your sins and then Thank Him.

To Do Today

Today, say the Lord's prayer.

Thursday

God's Word

Luke 11:9-10

"And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

God's Word Today

Jesus says all you have to do is ask. He will be there. If you truly want to know who He is or if you want to know anything about the Kingdom of God, ask and then look because God will send you teachers.

To Do Today

Today, ask God a question and then when you hear the answer, write down how He answered. Keep a journal in a notebook or on your computer of all the times Jesus answers a prayer.

Friday
October 13, 2017

God's Word

Luke 11:21

Jesus said,

"When a strong man fully armed guards his palace, his possessions are safe."

God's Word Today

Jesus wants you to guard your palace, your home, your mind. If you let bad things in, bad things happen. If you keep your house clean, there is peace. If you keep your thoughts on good things, then you are at peace. That is why Jesus tells you to set up guards.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of your house. Be sure all the good and positive things are there. Do not put in any of the bad things.

God's Word

Luke 11:27-28

While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed."

"Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it."

God's Word Today

Jesus is still teaching you to listen to God. You can do that by reading the Bible. You can do that by praying.

To Do Today

Today, list all the ways you can listen to God.

God's Word

Philippians 4:12-13

Brothers and sisters: I know how to live in humble circumstances; I know also how to live with abundance. In every circumstance and in all things I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need. I can do all things in him who strengthens me.

God's Word Today

Paul is saying it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor, if you have everything you need or if you have very little. Those things don't matter. What matters is having faith that God will provide you with everything you need. It may not be everything you want, but it will be everything you need.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of all the wonderful things God has provided for you. Thank Him for them.

Monday
October 16, 2017

God's Word

Luke 11:30

"Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation."

God's Word Today

Do you remember the story of Jonah and the whale? Jonah was sent to warn the Ninevites that they were sinning. They repented and turned from their wicked ways. Jesus wants his people to also turn from any wicked ways and to repent and turn to God. He died on the cross so you can be forgiven. The cross He died on is the sign. The cross reminds you to repent and ask forgiveness for your sins.

To Do Today

Today, ask God to forgive you for any things you have done this week that weren't godly.

God's Word

Luke 11:37

After Jesus had spoken, a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home. He entered and reclined at table to eat.

God's Word Today

Would you like to be like the Pharisee and invite Jesus into your home for dinner with your family? Imagine what that would be like. Talk to your family. Perhaps you can invite your pastor or a missionary into your home for dinner.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of Jesus at the home of the Pharisee.

God's Word

Luke 11:46

"Woe to you scholars of the law! You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them."

God's Word Today

Jesus is upset with people who make so many rules and then do not help others to carry out the rules. Do you have rules at home? At school? In Sunday school? Do you help your family and friends follow the rules? This would make Jesus very happy.

To Do Today

Today, help a family member clean their room or do a chore.

God's Word

Luke 11:52

"Woe to you scholars of the law! You have taken away the keys of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter."

God's Word Today

Jesus is upset with the teachers of His time. They made so many rules and laws that the people couldn't obey them. They did not help the people. They would not let them enter the house of God to hear how God would help them. That is why He is so upset. Can you learn about God? Where do you go to learn about God? Can you or your family go any time? This makes Jesus happy today.

To Do Today

Today, list all the places you can learn about God.

God's Word

Luke 12:2-3

Jesus said,

"There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops."

God's Word Today

Jesus warns the people that with God there are no secrets. He knows everything. Every secret and every word said will some day be made public. Jesus tells you this so that you will guard what you say, even in secret. Do you have secrets? Would you care if God knew your secrets? He does know.

To Do Today

Today, find a secret place and tell God all your secrets.

God's Word

Luke 12:8-9

Jesus said to his disciples:

"I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God."

God's Word Today

Jesus wants you to tell others about Him. If you tell others about Him, He will tell the angels of God about you. If you deny Jesus or tell others you don't believe in Jesus then He will tell the angels of God that He does not know you. Do you want the angels of God to know you? Yes, because then you will be able to live in heaven with them.

To Do Today

Today, tell someone about Jesus. You can tell them in person or write a letter or email.

God's Word

Isaiah 45:4b-5

I have called you by your name, giving you a title, though you knew me not. I am the Lord and there is no other, there is no God besides me. It is I who arm you, though you know me not.

God's Word Today

God is assuring you that He has called you. He knows you. He knows your name. And because He knows you, you are His. He is the one who gives you strength.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of God calling you. Draw a picture of you answering.

God's Word

Luke 12:15

Then he said to the crowd,

"Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one's life does not consist of possessions."

God's Word Today

Jesus goes on to explain that you can have all kinds of possessions, but when you go to heaven, the things stay here. What goes with you to heaven are the things that matter to God. Do you know what those things are? They are things like love, kindness, the things you do to help others, the good deeds you did on this earth. Those are the treasures that go to heaven with you.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of heavenly treasures you have. Ask your family to help you.

God's Word

Luke 12:35-37a

Jesus said to his disciples,

"Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master's return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival."

God's Word Today

It has been over two thousand years since Jesus was born and lived here. He promised to come again, but it has been a long wait. No one knows when He will come. But what He is telling you now is that if you are ready for Him, you will be blessed. He wants you to live your life as if we were coming this very day.

To Do Today

Today, make a menu of what you would serve Jesus if He came to dinner. Plan with your family to have that meal this Sunday.

God's Word

Luke 12:40

"You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come."

God's Word Today

Again, Jesus is telling His disciples that they must always be prepared. Jesus will come when you do not expect Him. He wants you to live your life as if He were coming any minute.

To Do Today

Today, write a list of things that are important to Jesus. Make a plan to always be ready with that list.

God's Word

Luke 12:49

Jesus said to his disciples,

"I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!"

God's Word Today

When Jesus comes, He will set the earth on fire. In other words, He will destroy all evil. But He wants to save all the people first. This is why He is taking so long to come back. He wants His children to be able to live with Him forever in heaven.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of Jesus on his white horse, destroying all the evil on earth.

God's Word

Luke 12:57

Jesus said to the crowds,

"Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?"

God's Word Today

Jesus has been warning you all week to be prepared. He is telling you today that you can judge for yourself what is right. You have the help of the Holy Spirit. So to be prepared for His coming, you need to always do the right thing. If you make a mistake, ask for forgiveness immediately. God will love you for that.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the things you did this week that were right.

God's Word

Luke 13:3

Jesus said,

"I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!"

God's Word Today

Some people told Jesus about some Galileans who were tortured and killed. Jesus reminded them that if they didn't repent, they would be destroyed also. That still applies today. That is why Jesus wants you to repent as soon as you realize you have made a mistake. He wants to forgive you so you may live in peace.

To Do Today

Today, list all the mistakes you made this week and ask Jesus to forgive you. Thank Him for doing so.

God's Word

Matthew 22:36-39

Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest? He said,

"You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself."

God's Word Today

Jesus makes it very clear. You are to love God with all your heart and soul. Then you are to love your neighbor. This means you are to love the people around you, whether you like them or not. Jesus wants you to show love in your heart.

To Do Today

Today, tell one of your neighbors how much you love them. Do something nice for them like draw a picture, give them a card or bake them some cookies.

God's Word

Luke 13:10-13

Jesus was teaching in the synagogue on the sabbath. And a woman was there who for eighteen years had been crippled by a spirit; she was bent over, completely incapable of standing erect. When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said,

"Woman, you are set free of your infirmity."

He laid his hands on her, and she at once stood up straight and glorified God.

God's Word Today

Jesus wants everyone to be healthy and strong. He saw the woman and felt sorry for her. He healed her. What did the woman do? Did she do what Jesus told her to do? Did she believe she was healed? Yes, she stood up straight. What else did she do? She gave God the glory.

To Do Today

Today, think of something God has done for you. Thank Him.

God's Word

Luke 13:18-19

Jesus said,

"What is the Kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches."

God's Word Today

When Jesus compares The Kingdom of God to a mustard seed, He is telling you that it starts out very tiny with the smallest amount of faith and then grows and grows the stronger you believe.

To Do Today

Today, plant a seed and watch it grow. Think about your faith as it grows. Your faith grows like the seed.
