God's Word

Luke 21:36

“Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.”

God's Word Today

To be vigilant means to try your best at all times. It means to be watchful and alert and watch for danger. Jesus says to pray at all times even if you are having problems. Stand before Him and pray.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the things you have to watch out for. These are things that could get you in trouble. For example, watch that you don’t get in a fight today. Or watch that you obey your parents.

God's Word

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13

Brothers and sisters: May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we have for you, so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. Amen

God's Word Today

Jesus was born as promised. Jesus will come again as promised. He wants you to be ready. Paul tells the Thessalonians how to be ready. He says to love each other. If you love others, it will make you strong and holy. God and Jesus will be smiling.

To Do Today

Today, tell your family you love them. Tell your friends you love them. Say a prayer of love for a stranger.

God's Word

Matthew 8:13

And Jesus said to the centurion,

“You may go, as you have believed, let it be done for you.”

God's Word Today

The centurion believed so strongly in the healing power of Jesus, that he believed his servant had been healed even before he saw it. Jesus wants you to think about Him. He wants you to think of His promises and believe in them as strongly as the centurion did.

To Do Today

Today, list positive things you truly believe about Jesus. Thank God for these things.

God's Word

Isaiah 11: 2

The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, a spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord.

God's Word Today

Isaiah was talking about Jesus in this verse. He was also talking about the Holy Spirit. Isaiah describes how the Holy Spirit will give Jesus wisdom and strength and knowledge. The Holy Spirit blessed Jesus and gave Him those things. Did you know that the Holy Spirit will do the same thing for you? That is one of God’s gifts. Just ask God. He will send His Holy Spirit to you.

To Do Today

Today, ask God to send the Holy spirit in your life and then thank the Holy Spirit for the gifts of knowledge, wisdom, strength, counsel and respect for God.

God's Word

Isaiah 25:6a

On this mountain the Lord of hosts will provide for all peoples a feast of rich food.

God's Word Today

Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would provide food on the mountain. In Matthew, we read that He did provide food for the thousands who were listening to Him. He did this during the Sermon on the Mount. He took the fish and the bread and fed the thousands. We are the body of Christ. Jesus wants us to use our gifts and feed the hungry. He wants us to use our abundance and care for the poor. If every Christian provides food, then Isaiah’s prophecy will come true. There will be a rich feast of food.

To Do Today

Today, make plans with your family to share food and/or feed the hungry.

God's Word

Isaiah 26:4

Trust in the Lord forever for the Lord is an eternal rock.

God's Word Today

Rocks are strong and some last millions of years. God is strong and never changing. That is why Isaiah says the Lord is like a rock. In Matthew (Matthew 7:24-27) Jesus says if you trust in Him you will be strong like a rock, even in a storm. If you don’t believe in Him, you’ll be like sand and washed away.

To Do Today

Today, find a rock to put in your room to remind you how strong God’s love is.

God's Word

Isaiah 29:23

When his children see the work of my hands in his midst, they shall keep my name holy; they shall reverence the Holy One of Jacob, and be in awe of the God of Israel.

God's Word Today

Have you ever seen one of God’s miracles? When you see one, it makes you love God more than you already do. When you see God working in someone’s life, it puts you in awe of God. Keep your eyes open for miracles.

To Do Today

Today, look for a miracle around you. Ask your family what miracles God sent them. Thank God for all His miracles—big or small.

Luke 1:28-31

And coming to her, Gabriel said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son and you shall name him Jesus.

God's Word Today

Mary was afraid when the angel appeared, but she loved God so much that she gladly accepted God’s request to bear His son. God helped Mary every step of the way. God will call you to serve Him in a way that will be perfect for you. He will prepare you just as He prepared Mary.

To Do Today

Today, thank God for Mary and ask Him to help you and guide you.

God's Word

Philippians 1:9-11

And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value, so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.

God's Word Today

Paul is once again explaining how important it is to love one another. He is telling the Philippians this time to be prepared for when the Lord Jesus Christ comes again. He wants you to be prepared also. If Jesus came today, would He find you praising God? Would He find you loving all of the people around you?

To Do Today

Today, talk to your family about finding a way this week to show your neighbors how much you love Jesus.

Isaiah 35:1-2

The desert and the parched land will exult; They will bloom with abundant flowers, and rejoice with joyful song..

God's Word

Matthew 18:12 and 14

Jesus said to his disciples:

"If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray? In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost."

God's Word Today

Jesus wants you to know that He will do everything to find lost souls. A shepherd will look everywhere for a lost sheep. Jesus is your shepherd. If you become lost, He will find you. If you stop believing in Hi, He will keep looking for you. Does that make you feel safe?

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of a lost sheep. Draw the shepherd finding it.

God's Word

Isaiah 40:31

They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles wings; they will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.

God's Word Today

Many times it is very difficult to follow God’s way. Sometimes it would be easier to go along with your friends than to follow the rules. Sometimes you’d rather play than obey your parents. But Isaiah tells you that if you turn to God, He will make you strong. Jesus tells you to give Him your problems. He will help you carry them.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of an eagle. Put a picture of your problem on the eagle’s back. The eagle will carry your problem to the Lord.

God's Word

Isaiah 41:13

For I am the Lord, your God, who grasps your right hand. It is I who say to you, “Fear not, I will help you.”

God's Word Today

There are times in our lives when things seem so bad that we are afraid. Isaiah is telling you that whenever you are afraid, God will help you. Isaiah tells you to hold out your hand and God will grasp it.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of yourself and a picture of God holding your right hand.

God's Word

Psalm 1:2-3

Happy those whose way is the law of the Lord. God’s law they study day and night. They are like a tree planted near streams of water, that yields its fruit in season: Its leaves never wither, whatever they do prospers.

God's Word Today

When you read the Bible and study God’s word, you have a strong knowledge of God’s ways. This gives you strength like roots give strength to a tree. You will grow strong like a tree, because you have good roots. You have a good foundation with God.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of a tree. Make its roots. On each root write one of God’s promises to you. Make your tree big and strong.

Psalm 80:19b

"Revive us and we will call on your name."

God's Word Today

For thousands of years people have been crying out to God to save them. When you are troubled, mad, sad, happy or glad, you can cry out to God. God loves for you to call on Him. He loves for you to tell Him you love Him. Doing so makes you feel better too.

The crowds asked John the Baptist, "What should we do?" He said to them in reply, "Whoever has two cloaks should share with the person who has none. And whoever has food should do likewise."

God's Word Today

This week John the Baptist is telling the people to be ready for the coming of Christ. He is telling the people to take care of one another. If someone doesn't have clothes, he says to give them clothing. If someone doesn't have food, he says to give them food. Do you and your family help others who don't have food or clothing?

To Do Today

Today, go through your closet and find clothes you can give away to people who don't have clothes. Talk to your family about ways you can help others.

God's Word

Matthew 1:16b

Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah.

God's Word Today

The book of Matthew lists the genealogy of Jesus. That means a list of all Jesus’ ancestors, people we have read about in the Old Testament. Most of Jesus’ ancestors loved God. Do you know who your ancestors are? Did they love the Lord?

To Do Today

Today, ask your parents who your ancestors were. Make a family tree.

God's Word Today

God’s angel is asking Joseph to be Jesus’ father, even though he is not his real father. Joseph is Jesus’ step-father. Joseph obeyed the Lord and loved Jesus like a true son.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of Joseph and Jesus together.

The angel Gabriel was very busy during the year Christ was born. He talked to Mary and Joseph, and he talked to John’s parents, Elizabeth and Zachariah. He was an important angel indeed.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of what you think the angel Gabriel looks like.

God's Word Today

This is how the Christmas story begins. The angel Gabriel tells Mary that she will have the baby Jesus. What would you do if an angel came and talked to you? Would you be frightened? Mary was troubled. She wanted to do what the Lord asked, but she didn't think she could. The angel told her she could. God would not ask you to do something you couldn't do. He knows everything.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of the the angel Gabriel talking to Mary.

Sometime in your life, you might think that the work is too hard or painful. Remember Mary’s words. Fill your soul with thought of the Lord and rejoice.

To Do Today

Today, when you do your chores, sing a song to Jesus.

Micah 5:1-2a

Thus says the Lord: You, Bethlehem-Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel: whose origin is from of old, from ancient times. Therefore the Lord will give them up, until the time when she who is to give birth has borne.

For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. To Do Today

Today, sing happy birthday to Jesus.

Acts6:8 and Acts 7:55-56

Stephen, filled with grace and power, was working great wonders and signs among the people. He, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked up intently to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."

God's Word Today

Stephen is a saint and today is the day we celebrate his life. He is a saint because even as the crowd was stoning him to death, he refused to be afraid. He refused to deny he loved Jesus. He insisted he loved Jesus. Because of this, he saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Jesus welcomed him into heaven. Look in books or on the internet for pictures of Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

To Do Today

Today, tell Jesus how much you love Him. Draw a picture of Him standing at the right hand of God.

God's Word Today

Herod was going to harm Jesus. The Lord sent an angel to warn Joseph. Joseph obeyed and ran away to Egypt where he was safe. Sometimes our parents or teachers tell us to do things so that we’ll be safe. Do you act like Joseph? Do you obey when you are warned of danger?

To Do Today

Today, think of all the rules that keep you safe. Draw a picture of an angel warning you to follow one of those rules.

God's Word

Luke 2:43b-47

The boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers.

God's Word Today

There is not much in the Bible that tells you about Jesus when He was your age. But this tells us that He was very curious and wanted to learn. The prophets had written about His coming hundreds of years earlier and Jesus wanted to know what they said. He wanted to know what He was supposed to do while here on earth. Jesus studied God's word to find out how He was supposed to live. Do you study God's word to find out how you are supposed to live?

To Do Today

Today, find things in the Bible that tell you how God wants you to live. Make a list of the things you have learned. Talk to your parents about how you can do those things.
